Bend Pool

Bend Pool beat offers 800m of single, right-hand bank fishing on the River Exe upstream of Exebridge to the first small weir above the old railway bridge.

Access to the beat is through Exe Valley Fisheries and, exercising due consideration for their customers, you may park in their car park. Naturally, the DAA water does not include their lakes and leat. The entrance is from the first turning right on the Dulverton side of Exebridge.

The majority of this beat is a sweeping right hand bend offering superb fishing, casting towards deeper water on the outside of the bend. This stretch holds some good sized brown trout and grayling as well as an occasional salmon and sometimes an escapee rainbow. Dry fly, wet fly and nymphs can all be effective in the right conditions. There is a riverside picnic bench on the beat and a pub, the Anchor Inn, close by.

The fields are used for horses and livestock so please be diligent about closing gates and collecting rubbish. Do be aware of power lines crossing the river overhead. As on all DAA waters, fishing is fly only and, except for rainbow trout, is mandatory catch and release.

Tight Lines!
